Structured Course, 6 x 2 hour sessions, People who want to gain more knowledge about the food they eat, how to control their intake of food. Also, how food affects their mood. Participation in classes and activities is welcomed but not compulsory and if you have any questions about these please do not hesitate to ask.
Brief Description of Topics Covered:
We look at behavioural habits and where they come from. Introduction to the Eat Well Plate.
Portion control and a practical session showing how much we should be eating on our plates.
Food labelling and the Traffic Light Labelling and how to understand what it means. Best before dates and Used by dates explained.
Salts, Sugars, Fats and the risk with Diabetes and Heart Disease.
Cooking on a budget and demonstrating how to plan the costs of meals. How food affects our moods.
Practical session cooking a meal.
Help recognise how food affects our mental and physical well-being.
Gain knowledge about how much we should eat and what types of food we should eat to maintain optimum health.
Equip members with knowledge that will enable them to begin to understand how the physical body works with regards to the food we eat, so they can start to makes small changes to their eating habits.
