We are so proud of our members who participated in their first CLC Community Heroes Initiative project and made a huge Vegetarian Cottage pie and a fruit crumble for Prestwich Street Kitchen to share with their community.
Members helped to pick rhubarb for the crumble from the CLC allotment an then spent time prepping and chopping all the ingredients to make 2 delicious recipes. This initiative has been designed so that members of the CLC can access both short and longer term volunteering opportunities as part of the 5 ways to wellbeing model with the central theme of giving back. Evidence suggests there are 5 steps you can take to improve your mental wellbeing. The 5 Ways to Wellbeing model focuses on: Connecting with other people. Being physically active. Learning new skills. Giving to others. Paying attention to the present moment (mindfulness). Here at the Creative Living Centre, we have a varied timetable of support available for members. This provides an opportunity to explore what activities each person may feel supports with their mental health and wellbeing journey with this model being central to the support we offer. If you are interested in finding out more, please speak with your support coordinator If you are a local charity or community initiative who would like to help our members get some volunteering experience, please contact [email protected]
